Las Vegas Trip

We had a great time in Las Vegas. I had been before, but Liz had not. We stayed at the Palms, went to lots of cool places and walked the strip and saw all the hotels. This picture is in front of the Venetian "lagoon" showing the strip in the background. Liz's favorite place was either at poolside at the Palms or at the blackjack table.

Our first engagement photo

We arrive at the airport walking on air (actually that was mostly Liz, Mike was busy carring all of her bags and his bags). As we walk up to the JetBlue counter:

JetBlue Guy: "Hi, how can I help you?"

Mike: "Hi, 2 for the 8pm flight to Las Ve...

Liz: "WE JUST GOT ENGAGED!!!!"

JetBlue Guy: "Oh wow! Right here in the terminal?"

Mike: "No. Actually at her house before we left."

JetBlue Guy: "Hang on, I'll be right back..." (walks away quickly)

Liz: "Maybe they'll upgrade us to first class! That's what happened to Wendy and Dan. And you know I just had to tell someone!"

Mike: "I know, I was just wondering if it would be the guy from the airline, or security. :) But JetBlue does not have first class, so I don't think we'll be getting an upgrade..."

JetBlue Guy: (now with his camera phone) "Ok, smile. I am sure this one won't look like much, but at least it is the first of many more to come!"

PS - Negotiations are underway for JetBlue to be the official airline of our wedding.

We're engaged!

What better way to celebrate an engagement than a weekend in Las Vegas? We can't think of anything better. I went to Liz's apartment to pick her up (she knew she was going on a trip and I had provided her a list of what to pack, but did not know where she was going). I brought her some flowers - Liz was surprised, and frankly puzzled... wouldn't the flowers just die while we were away? - and she put them in water. Then I asked if she was ready to go, she said she was ready, then I dropped to one knee and told her there was one more question I had to ask her before we left.

Though it took her some time to respond (about a full minute, but I have been telling people five minutes) I am also pretty sure it was because she was totally shocked and not because she was wondering if it was a good idea. :)
